UPDATE: The driver of a Peugeot, a 50-year-old man from Plymouth, sustained chest injuries and he remains in hospital in a stable condition. The road re-opened at 11.25am.
Police and emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the A38 at Bodmin.
The collision between a a car, Ford Transit van and Scannia Tipper truck happened at 7.05am close to Turfdown roundabout.
One casualty from the car has been taken to Derriford Hospital with serious injuries.
The A38 has been closed at Turfdown and substantial traffic tailbacks are reported in the area.
Eastbound traffic is being diverted via the A30 and westbound traffic via the A390 towards East Taphouse.
Police are asking drivers to avoid the area for the time being if possible.
Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact police on 101, quoting log 101 of July 8.
