Monday saw another release of sewage into the water at Godrevy, blamed on heavy rainfall.

The sewage alert issued by South West Water comes on the heels of a spill that closed the popular beaches on a peak summer Saturday and saw the cancellation of a surf competition.

SWW said it took, "proactive steps through our online BeachLive service to alert beach managers to these situations during intense rain storms, so they can act accordingly and help beach users make informed decisions as to whether to swim or surf".

The repeated release of sewage at the popular bathing and surfing beach has been previously blamed on downpours, however concerns have been raised about the number of spills, and what impact a large house building programme in the Camborne area will have on existing infrastructure.

The Trelawney Alliance has said, "it is a fact that the pumping station at Kieve Mill cannot cope; this is particularly alarming considering that there are another 4,000 new homes with planning consent in place for Camborne.

“This situation is totally unacceptable and we need to be asking South West Water what they are planning to do about it.”
