The RNLI has said the crew of a yacht 'took the right action' in reporting a suspected engine fire to Falmouth Coastguard.
Lifeboat volunteers were called after the three people on board the 30ft yacht Twister, which was between the Eastern Breakwater and the Governor Bouy in Falmouth Harbour, reported the incident.
When the all weather lifeboat arrived at around 7.30am the engine compartment had been sealed off so the yacht was towed back to the lifeboat station where the fire brigade were waiting.
An RNLI spokesperson said: "It was soon confirmed that there had not been a fire and the incident had been caused by a blown coolant hose. As the yachts engine was unserviceable it was decided to use the lifeboat boarding boat to tow the yacht back to its berth at the Falmouth Marina in the Penryn River.
"The yacht's crew had taken the right actions in informing the coastguard of the situation and requesting assistance. Luckily on this occasion no fire had been present with the incident only requiring mechanical repairs to be carried out."
