A new lady is lurking in the toilets of Porthallow’s pub the Five Pilchards – and she’s getting eyed up on a regular basis.

All is not quite as it sounds, however, as the “lady” in question is Murial, the central character of a mural that has been painted by Jo Pascoe from the Parlour Gallery at Roskilly’s near St Keverne.

It was commissioned by cheeky pub landlord David Lambrick, who also appears in the painting along with other caricatures of local characters, all with a farming theme as David’s other passion.

What has not been revealed, however, is the identity of the mysterious milking Murial – and it is now the talk of the pub.

Jo said: “Male patrons, when needing to use the toilet, now state proudly, 'I am off to visit the mural’. The picture has created such interest that there can often be a queue; a problem that the ladies don’t have as they do not have their own caricature to look at yet.”

The identity of Murial is a closely guarded secret between David and Jo, but the lady in question does visit the Five Pilchards on a regular basis.

The pair are now challenging people to visit the pub and see if they can work it out.

David is currently fundraising for the Porthallow Village Christmas lights appeal and for a small donation he may help out guessers with some clues.
