A man has been airlifted to hospital after becoming trapped in a potato harvester near Penzance this morning.
The worker has serious injuries to his legs after becoming trapped in the agricultural machinery in a field near Paul this morning.
Ambulance personel and police were called to the scene, with firefighters battling to free the man before he was airlifted to Derriford Hospital by a Cornwall Air Ambulance.
A fire service spokesman said two fire appliances from Penzance Fire Station and the specialist rescue tender from Camborne Fire Station attended.
Adding: "The crews set up a platform beside the machinery to gain better access and used various small tools to release the casualty. The casualty was then conveyed to hospital by air ambulance.
A police spokesman confirmed that the incident was being called as an industrial accident and that there was "serious damage to his legs", adding that it not known yet whether the injuries are life threatening."
