Langholme care home in Falmouth threw open its doors to friends and family for its annual summer fete on Saturday afternoon.
Opened by the mayor of Falmouth, John Body, the fair saw fun stalls, refreshments, cream teas as well as songs by choir MyloRhythm singers and beautiful music from harpist Alice Wall.
Mr Body said he was delighted to have been asked to open the summer fete, with the invitation to attend the “very first” he had received as the new mayor of Falmouth.
He said that despite the sun not shining it did not dampen spirits and that he was bowled over by the warmth and friendliness of the welcome, also paying tribute to the hard work and dedication of staff, families, volunteers and the group Friends of Langholme.
Langholme in Arwenack Avenue is home to around 40 pensioners, most of whom are in their eighties and nineties, and recently achieved an overall performance rating of 908 out of 1,000 in a national survey.
