A new two-wheeled initiative has rolled into town in order to promote tourism in Helston.

Mercury Motorcycle Hire Ltd was opened officially by mayor Mike Thomas, who cutting the ribbon surrounded by a number of established local bikers and spectators.

In line with the celebratory atmosphere, the mayor then posed for photos sitting on one of the new bikes.

Mercury Hire is the initiative of Helston family Scott and Marianna Flint, in an effort to bring a new opportunity for the town to promote tourism within and across the county.

It gives people the chance to hire out a motorbike and explore the area.

The new centre, which is located in Unit 4 Tyacke Place, off Tyacke Road, also offers a variety of clothing, accessories and parts.

Mr Thomas identified this new initiative as “welcome evidence of commercial investment that could only be positive for Helston, and indeed, the wider community in general.”
