Two cats have been killed in Camborne, with traces of anti-freeze found in their bodies.
Police have now launched a criminal investigation and called for vigilance by cat owners.
It follows the death of the two cats in the Trelowarren Street area of Camborne, between last Friday, July 18 and Saturday, July 19.
Sergeant Phil Binnie, from Camborne Police Station, said: “Following veterinary examination both cats were found to have traces of anti-freeze in their bodies. It is quite likely that this was a deliberate act.
“The police have no leads at this time, but would advise the cat owning public to be vigilant and if your cat shows signs of being poorly for no apparent reason then veterinary advice should be sought as soon as possible.”
Only a week earlier another cat was killed in Porthleven, with another ill, after both swallowed antifreeze, while a further two were burned with some kind of chemical.
Anyone with information regarding any of these crimes should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
