Cornwall Council has opened a consultation on the installation of a new ‘toucan’ crossing at the Kernick roundabout on the A39 for bicycles and pedestrians travelling between Mabe and Penryn.

The scheme includes provision of a combined cycle and footpath on either side of the A39, leading onto Kernick Road and Antron Hill, and is designed to improve pedestrian and cyclist access due to increasing demand, especially at peak times when it is difficult to cross.

The council said: “The scheme is primarily to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety when crossing the A39 and contribute to improving accessibility to encourage more walking and cycling.”

Anyone wishing to respond to the consultation can either view the form at, email the engineering design group on or write to Engineering Design Group, CORMAC Consultancy, Radnor Road, Scorrier, Redruth, Cornwall, TR16 5EH.
