Helston Museum will be marking the centenary of the outbreak of World War One with the first in a series of exhibitions this Monday.
On August 4, exactly 100 years since hostilities began, a new display will open in the museum's art gallery, entitled 'Helston's Fallen'.
The exhibition concentrates on the men who are named on the town's war memorial, bringing to light details of their lives using letters, artefacts and photographs.
A team of volunteers led by Tracey Clowes, assistant curator, has been working for months on researching the stories behind the names and their local connections.
The museum has also worked with students at Helston Community College and Mullion School, who have produced a series of painted silk banners with designs reflecting different aspects of the war.
The official opening will be attended by several descendants of the men who gave their lives in the service of their country.
The exhibition will be open Monday to Saturday, 10am until 4pm, between August 4 and August 22, and admission is free.
