After six years as second in command, the deputy headteacher of Helston’s Parc Eglos Primary School is leaving to take up her own headship.

Louise Jones is moving to Landewednack Primary School at The Lizard, where she will take over from retiring head Sue Wilson.

Mrs Jones, who joined Parc Eglos on the same day as headteacher Brett Dye, said: “It is the chance of a headship and a new opportunity. I’m not moving for any other reason – I’ve loved every minute of being here and working with Brett, who has been an inspirational head to work with.”

She described the staff, pupils and families at the school as “amazing,” adding: “I’ll miss everything. There’s one exciting thing after another working here – no week is the same.”

It will not be a forever goodbye, however, as both Parc Eglos and Landewednack are part of the Southerly Point Schools Co-operative Trust, meaning they will still link up and attend the same sporting events.

Mrs Jones was the driving force behind developing the Pathways Nursing, moving it from a mobile hut to proper facilities, and also heavily involved in the school’s foundation stage.

Paying tribute to his departing deputy Mr Dye said: “Her enthusiasm, drive, diplomacy and passion for our children’s needs that is so evident.

“She has been an amazing deputy headteacher, supporting me so well whilst always looking towards the needs of the staff and the children.

“We have been a great partnership and I will miss her professionalism, her wisdom and the great friendship we share.”

The school will be re-advertising for a deputy headteacher in September, ready to start the role in January 2015, with Sarah Goldsworthy taking on the title of acting deputy headteacher until then.
