A commemorative garden for those from Helston who gave their lives during World War One is underway at Trengrouse Way in Helston.
Headed by town councillor Martine Knight, the town's World War One Project Group planted silver birch trees on land at the bottom of Trengrouse Way last Friday.
They are in addition to the Flanders poppies planted previously, as “a mark of respect”, said Mrs Knight.
The group hopes to soon include a commemorative stone as well, as a mark of the centenary this year, and at the end of the four-year programme to grow the garden further, with an inscription to honour the 61 from Helston fallen during the war.
With the right funding, the group also plans to build a table and bench.
“It will hopefully be a place for people to come and quietly reflect,” said Mrs Knight.
