The Moonlight Memory Walk will be back in Falmouth this September for its sixth year, raising money for Children's Hospice South West.

The event will once again see women come together in Falmouth, to remember their loved ones with a memory ceremony and then take part in a sponsored five-mile circular walk through the town in celebration.

This year it will take place on Saturday, September 27 and entry is already open.

Sponsoring this year's event is specialist marine drilling contractor Fugro Seacore, which is based in Falmouth and works worldwide.

Having supported the children's charity through various fundraising events in the past, the team is excited to be able to sponsor the Moonlight Memory Walk meaning that all event costs are covered, so that all sponsorship money can go towards the worthy cause.

Kevin Billing, engineering process manager from Fugro Seacore, said: “Knowing that our sponsorship of the event means that money raised on the evening goes straight to the charity, and the families they support through their hospices, is fantastic.

“Many of our ladies are excited to take part and I would encourage the Falmouth community to get behind this special event.”

Last year the event saw more 400 ladies take part, who pledged to raise a fantastic £35,000.

The team from CHSW are looking to the ladies of Falmouth to get involved again.

The Falmouth Packet is also supporting the event once again as media partner.

Sarah Stott, events fundraiser for CHSW, said: “The Falmouth community has been so supportive over the past five years and we hope they are ready to don their purple T-shirts again and take to the streets to raise some all-important money for CHSW.”

CHSW supports children who sadly will not live to adulthood. Through their three hospices in the south west they provide care for life limited children as well as support for siblings and parents.

Families stay at Little Harbour in St Austell for a few days at a time. The care team work on a one to one basis with the children and there is even a sibling team who keep brothers and sisters entertained and always have activities planned so that they can fully enjoy their stay.

Care and support offered at Little Harbour would not be possible without the many donations made to the charity through fundraising.

Anyone interested in signing up for this year's Falmouth Moonlight Memory Walk can visit www.chsw.org.uk/moonlight to register online. This year the age limit has also been reduced so any women from the age of 14 years can join in the event.

Registration costs £10 and ladies are encouraged to raise as much sponsorship as possible.
