The head chef at Merchants Manor Brasserie in Falmouth, is the only person from Cornwall to have made it through to the semi-finals of the South West Chef of the Year competition.

Dale McIntosh will be competing against seven other professional chefs to win a place in the finals.

Each of the semi-finalists in the professional class will be creating and cooking two dishes using ingredients from the South West region.

They will be judged on their skill, creativity in cooking and knowledge of produce from the South West region.

Dale is a three-time finalist and winner of the Cornish Challenge who has more than 15 years’ experience in the kitchen.

He said: “I’m delighted to have made it through to the semi-finals of such a respected award.

“Naturally I’m nervous but equally excited about this opportunity to showcase my passion for creative dishes using local produce in front of the judges.”
