SITHNEY Community Group held their first ever summer fete last Saturday with great success.
Julie Slater, secretary of the group, said: “It was really good. Everybody enjoyed it.”
Held on the Sithney School playing field, a whole host of activities such as games and stalls were on offer, with Helston Concert Brass band playing all throughout the day.
Mrs Slater said: “The idea behind the fete was that it would be open to all the groups and clubs who contribute to Sithney.”
Various organisations such as the Girls' Rainbows and the 1st St Elvan Scouts were on show on the Saturday.
“It was a communal fete and it showcased just what Sithney had to offer,” added Mrs Slater.
Alongside the stalls, a scarecrow competition was available for participants to build their best scarecrow, where the winner would receive the Sithney Community Cup, sponsored by the community group.
This year's inaugural winner was Maisie Vincent, who was also sponsored by the community group to travel to London, to receive a diving award she has recently won for her sporting achievements.
