Royal British Legion building in Mullion goes on the market

First published in News

The former Royal British Legion building in Mullion has gone up for sale.

Believed to have been built around 1889, the legion reading room is in the centre of the village.

For sale with a guide price of £100,000, it includes a main hall, plus two further rooms.

The Mullion branch of the RBL officially closed its doors and laid up its standard in December last year, after it failed to gather enough volunteers to form a committee.

I hope as a building of historic interest, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, that whoever purchases it, keeps some of the originality of it, and that any future planning applications applied for, are appropriate.

Incidentally, I thought the British Legion were supposed to keep any unused buildings for one year, before selling them, in case people come forward to reinstate the use of a building for a British Legion branch?

Someone voted your comment down Gill, when will some people realise what a question mark is for and try answering the question instead of voting things down, without leaving a comment, dimwits.
Your're better off with no British Legion in Mullion, look at the in house petty fighting in Falmouth and Penryn. Helstons one is full of cliquey masons like John Boase.
