A son is set to ride an exercise bike for six hours to raise funds for Cancer Research in memory of his late mother.

Thomas Clements, aged 21, from Mabe, plans to ride the stationary bicycle at the Falmouth Hotel this Saturday (August 16) beginning at 11am and hopefully finishing at roughly 5pm.

Thomas said he was “really excited” about the event, which he hopes will raise a good amount for the charity.

He added: “Cancer Research is close to my heart.”

Thomas’ mother, Maria Clements, pictured, died after contracting breast cancer.

Thomas says that close friends and relatives have also been diagnosed with the disease in the past.

“My close friend Natalie passed away recently, and it was such a shock. She was the same age as me and unfortunately it shows just how it can happen to anyone,” he added.

Because of their work and influence on his life, Thomas decided that he wanted “to give something back” to Cancer Research.

Thomas has been determined to be fit and ready for August 15, training at home for the six hour ride by walking and exercising his legs, adding that he was “really positive” and “looking forward” to the fundraiser.
