A 24-year-old Falmouth woman who was found smelling of booze after crashing her car was three times over the legal limit.

Truro magistrates heard that police officers had received a call from a member of the public about Ami Louise Long's driving, but before they had responded she had crashed into another car.

Officers found the Long smelling of alcohol and she failed a roadside test, later testing at 90mcg, nearly three times the limit.

Long, aged 24, of Wellington Place, Falmouth, pleaded guilty to drink driving at Helston on July 27.

Terry Eastwood, her solicitor, said she had been drinking the night before and was on her way home the following afternoon when the accident occurred.

She had been looking down to put a CD in her car player and when she looked up the car in front had stopped at traffic lights, and there was a minor collision.

Long was fined £275 with £112 costs and surcharge and banned from driving for 23 months.
