A fundraising event brought more than just a splash of colour to Mylor with around 85 children taking part in a run with a difference.

Childcare company Dancer Daycare based on Bell’s Hill, Mylor Bridge raised around £1,750 with a colour run event, organised by employee Kathryn Hammill.

Groups of toddlers, infants and big kids ran around a small course while having special coloured paint thrown over them.

The event was part of a wider fundraising programme by friends Laura Dancer, Kathy, Erin Austin, Cathy Shimmen, Ruth Davis and Kelly Martin hoping to raise £8,000 for charity Get Kids Going, which will culminate with the New York Marathon in November.

They are currently at £4,022, including £700 of match funding from Santander for the latest event.

Kathy said: “It was a brilliant day, full of colour where everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We were amazed at the money collected through sponsorships and would personally like to thank everyone for their kind donations towards a very worthy charity.”

Other events will include a bingo night on September 5, clothes swap on September 10 and a family fun day on September 27.

Get Kids Going is a charity which gives disabled people up to the age of 26 the opportunity to participate in sport, providing them with specially built sports wheelchairs and inspiring disabled youngsters to compete in sporting events to Paralympic level by giving them sports grants.
