A group of street drinkers causing a problem outside Tesco in Truro one night saw police officers called there and they succeeded in moving them on — all but one.

A court heard he was drunk and urinating against the supermarket wall when police arrived. He was verbally abusive to them and refusing to move on.

At Truro Magistrates’ Court Dean Lockett, aged 46, of Dracaena Avenue, Falmouth, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.

He told the magistrates he had an alcohol problem and was hoping to get rehabilitation to sort himself out.

Lockett was given a conditional discharge for a year and told to pay £35 costs and surcharge, in respect of which he spent the morning in the court building in lieu of payment.
