Sunday morning worship was led by the church stewards, on the theme “The World” and included an address on Missionary Work.
Dorothy Pountain was the speaker. Also taking part were Olive Polglase, Tony Nicholas, Palfrey Turner and Jeff Mount. David Philp was the organist.
Evening service was led by Deacon Geoff Tamblin, who preached on “Seeing we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses…” from the Epistle to the Hebrews. The sermon included both amusing and poignant personal illustrations. John Gilbert was at the organ.
The exhibition “Porthleven’s Got Talent” continues to be open each afternoon from Monday to Friday, with a wide variety of art, craft and literary items on view. Admission is free. Tea and coffee are normally available and cream teas are being served on request. Prayers at Sundown continue from 8.45pm until 9pm each evening during August except Sundays. All are most welcome to join in this quiet quarter of an hour at the end of rushed and busy days.
