Falmouth's all weather lifeboat was called to help a yacht with an overheating engine off Governor Buoy in Falmouth harbour on Saturday afternoon.

Falmouth Coastguard called the lifeboat at around 4.30pm to help the 27ft yacht Juliette J with two people on board, and a passing fishing boat also answered the yachts request for assistance.

The lifeboat arrived just after 4.45 and found the fishing vessel standing by and the yachts skipper was confirmed that the problem was associated with a split water hose.

A lifeboat spokesperson said: "The lifeboat went alongside the yacht and a crew member was put on board to help identify the cause. The yacht was then towed up to its mooring at Trevissome in the Penryn River where it was safely secured.

"As the yacht was on a mooring the lifeboat crew helped the skipper to ensure that no further water ingress could take place until the problem with the engine could be rectified."
