Falmouth RNLI Guild managed to make the best of the bad weather at the weekend after rain forced their summer fete off the lawn of the Falmouth Hotel.

The group, who were organising the event in conjunction with St Keverne Band, resorted to their back up option and set up stalls inside the hotel itself.

After organising the indoors fete, which included children's games and face painting, cream teas, snacks and a barbecue, as well as stalls including one from the RNLI shop, the organisers were pleased to count up the money and discover they had raised £750.

Falmouth RNLI Guild secretary Pat Meredith said: “Because of the weather we had to go inside the Falmouth Hotel, which proved quite fortunate, there were a lot of people there.

“I think there were several who were happy to have something indoors on such a wet afternoon. The weather did us a favour.”

She added: “Big thanks to the Falmouth hotel, who didn't charge us for anything.”
