A diver has died after getting into difficulties off Trevose Head near Padstow.

Falmouth Coastguard contact police at 2.30pm yesterday. Officers found that a 63-year-old man had been taken from the water and pulled onto a boat.

From there he was airlifted to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, where he was pronounced dead.

An enquiry is ongoing trying to establish the exact nature of the incident.

Police said that the diver was not local to the area and was diving with a group of friends.
