An injured six foot shark has been rescued after becoming stuck in a creek on the Lizard peninsula.
Four workers from holiday company Sailaway St Anthony discovered the fish, which had a rusty hook in its dorsal fin, in shallow water in Gillan Creek near Manaccan.
David Barras, Charlie Samuel, Tom McCabe and Emily Agg refloated the shark and used their boat to shepherd it back out to sea.
Company owner Anthony Jenkin said: “So far as I can see it must have been injured to have gone in there.
“I've been here for 50 or 60 years and it's quite unusual.
“Our staff got it back out into the open water and it seemed to buck up and swam off quite happily.
“It was a fabulous blue colour, a gorgeous creature really.
“If we hadn't got it out it would have died.”
