Many people say they would do a lot for their dogs, but these brave volunteers from the K9 Crusaders Dog Rescue Centre have proved it and shaved their heads to raise money for their furry friends.

Trudi Ellis, Lou benney, Bee Chapman and Sue Smith, the founder of the charity, all parted with their hair, with help from hairdresser Laura Tellam, in order to gain sponsorship and try to reach their target of £2,000, which will help towards maintaining the rescue shelter.

A supporter of the charity, Hilary Merton, said that the group was already over their target, with sponsorship still coming in.

Money will be spent, primarily, on renewing the supply of dog food and funding veterinary bills to keep the animals healthy.

The K9 Crusaders Dog Rescue can hold about 50 dogs at any one time, which are looking for homes.

Ms Merton said that the fundraisers had been happy to do it for the sake of the dogs, even if they were getting some “weird looks” from the public.
