As Helston Community College students return for a new term next week, there will be four students taking over the top leadership roles.

This school year’s head boy and head girl will be Blake Brown and Francesca Wells.

They will be supported by deputies Rowan Clarke and Anna Broome.

Backing up the four heads will be the senior prefect team. This will consist of Alanah Bloor, Polly Morris, Hollie Nolan, Emily Thornhill, Tom Crawley and Miles Tolchard. All positions were carefully considered by an interview panel comprising now-departed headteacher Dr Pat McGovern, new headteacher Donna Bryan and chairman of governors Graham Vallender. All ten students had put themselves forward at the end of last term, while still in year ten, for the positions of head girl and boy.

The interviewing panel described making the final decision as an “incredibly difficult task,” with the roles only allocated after “much deliberation.”
