A woman who celebrated her 100th birthday in Coverack yesterday has put her long life down to “never doing anything to excess.”
Grace Marjorie Stephenson is a resident at Porthgwara Nursing Home, where she is known to many by her second name, Marjorie.
She was born on September 2, 1914 in Headingly, Leeds and after school she became a teacher, |working until she was 65, in 1979.
Marjorie moved to Cornwall two years ago to be closer to her daughter Gill and joined the |residents at Porthgwara in December last year.
When asked if she knew the secret of long life she said she thought she was lucky, adding that she had never smoked or done |anything to excess.
