Players at Falmouth Town AFC have kicked off the new season in style with a little help from Taylor Wimpey Exeter.

The housebuilder, which is currently building new homes at its St Aubyn Park development in nearby Mabe, has provided kit for the first team, reserves and third team at the club, based at Bickland Park in Falmouth.

The first team play in the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Premier Division and the Reserves in the Cornwall Combination League, while the Thirds celebrated their inaugural year in the Trelawny League last season by clinching the Division 5 title.

The kit sponsorship was arranged as part of a deal which will enable Taylor Wimpey to use an area of the club’s car park as a sales office for a forthcoming new development at neighbouring Lower Kergiliack Farm in Bickland Hill. Outline planning permission for the development was granted in May 2014.

Suzie Williams, spokesperson for Falmouth FC, says: “Taylor Wimpey’s sponsorship has provided three sets of full strip and having the same kit has definitely united the three teams.

“We’re delighted that sponsorship of this calibre has come about and it was lovely to be presented with the new strip. We look forward to working with Taylor Wimpey in the future.”

Janine Copleston, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Exeter, says: “We are delighted to be sponsoring Falmouth Town AFC. As a local housebuilder we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build our new homes and this is a great example of the way we can help local organisations.

“Local football clubs do a great job in fostering community spirit and we hope this season brings the club plenty of success!”
