The sleek lines and roaring engines of classic motorboats are set to make a return to Falmouth.

The Classic Motor Boat Rally, which is celebrating its eleventh anniversary, is organised by the Classic Motor Boat Association.

The majority of craft belonging to members of this fast growing club come from the 50s, 60s, and 70s and are often restored beyond their original showroom condition.

The boats will be moored at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall pontoon from Thursday, Sunday 18 to Sunday, September 21, although during the day the owners will be cruising around the harbour, so you might not be able to catch them until they return from their adventures.

There will be a chance to take a closer look at the boats from 10am-12 noon, on Saturday, September 20. Come along to the Museum’s pontoon to meet the owners of these rare craft, who are always willing to share their love of these classic boats.

Tim Parr, event organiser, says: “This year we have 14 boats taking to the water and we’re happy to talk to anyone about our passion for these wonderful boats, so why not come along to find out what it’s all about. And if you’re really lucky we might even take you out for a spin!”
