The Saturday lunchtime concert was given by George Clark who sang and played the violin (although not at the same time!)

George was a chorister at Truro Cathedral and is in the process of developing a fine baritone voice. His tone was exceptional for such a young voice and his interpretations impeccable. He was especially at home in German Lieder but also sang “The street where you live” showing himself to be equally proficient in this style of music. This was a memorable concert, the more so as it was his first public solo recital.

Annabelle Barnard was baptised at the Sunday morning sung eucharist. The choir sang the anthem “Thee we adore” adapted from the plainsong. After the service the organ voluntary was the Toccata from Olivier Messaien’s “Dieu parmi nous”, the last movement of his suite “La nativité du Seigneur”. At choral evensong the anthem was Thomas Tallis’ well-known setting of the words “If ye love me, keep my commandments”. After the service, the organ music was Diderik Buxtehude’s Prelude and Fugue in G minor.

The preacher at both Sunday services was the Rev Stephen Tudgey.
