Falmouth RNLI received two shouts in close succession to boats believed to be in trouble near St Mawes.

At around 1.45pm on Sunday, November 21, the inshore lifeboat was sent by Falmouth Coastguard to help a 19 foot motorboat with two people on board which had been off St Anthony lighthouse when its outboard motor had caught fire.

Upon arrival, volunteers found that the owner had quickly extinguished the fire and requested assistance from the coastguard, before being taken in tow by a passing yacht.

An RNLI spokesperson said: "Once it was confirmed that the fire had been extinguished the inshore lifeboat took over the tow taking the boat back to St Just Creek where it was safely secured to its mooring at 2.34pm."

The lifeboat was then asked to investigate a report of a small punt possibly struggling with the conditions off Zone Point, but on arrival it was established that the boat was in fact fishing and did not need any help, so the lifeboat returned to its station.
