The possibility of falling masonry has caused a section of road in Penryn to be closed to traffic since yesterday.
The section of Lower Market Street which runs past Penryn Town Hall has been closed off, with temporary traffic lights and a diversion around the building onto Higher Market Street.
The traffic lights have been put in place by Cormac to allow work to fix a roof which shed tiles and a section of guttering into the main street during rainy weather on Monday night.
A spokesperson for Cornwall Council said: "Cormac has submitted an emergency road closure for Lower Market Street, Penryn.
"Debris which has fallen from a building is blocking the carriageway, therefore traffic will be diverted up Higher Market Street, Penryn under two way-traffic lights."
The closure is expected to continue until tomorrow, October 3.
