The Penryn and Falmouth Foodbank has benefited from the generosity of staff at construction company Midas, after the firm delivered food parcels to the charity.

Midas Construction’s Devon and Cornwall division had organised a region-wide collection across its building sites and offices as part of the company’s annual Community Engagement Week.

Large boxes were placed at the main Midas offices in Exeter, Plymouth and Indian Queens, Cornwall, for staff to fill with at least 50 food items. Boxes were also left at the company’s major construction sites in the region, where Midas staff, sub-contractors and consultants were asked to fill them with food donations.

The filled boxes were then delivered to food banks across the two counties, including the one in Penryn.

Sam Lockyer, business development director for Midas Construction in Devon and Cornwall, said: “We had a tremendous response from Midas staff across the region throughout our community engagement week.

“People brought in food items like cereals, canned fruits, tins of meat and soup, long life milk, pasta, rice, sugar, biscuits and more.

“We filled up dozens of large plastic boxes which I transported to some of the many food banks in Devon and Cornwall where volunteers are doing such a fantastic job of supporting those most in need.

“We were delighted to be able to help them with their work.”
