Dolly’s Tea Room in Falmouth is once again playing host to a group of crafts people who have been busy creating knitted and crocheted poppies which will be sold across the town ahead of Remembrance Day.

Last year the group raised more than £600 and hopes to do even better this year.

Tea room owner Dolly Makin said: “Maybe we can raise £1,000 for the Royal British Legion this time, especially as it is the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War. However, we can’t do anything without the help of the public, so we are asking them to get those needles, hooks and red yarn (maybe sparkly) out and get knitting or hooking.”

The group gathered at Dolly’s last week, but anyone who could not attend can still get involved by making their own poppies and delivering them to the tea room in Church Street ahead of the launch next Wednesday, October 15. The work will not stop there, though, as many more poppies will be needed in the run up to November 11. Further information is available from Dolly on 01326 218400.
