For the first time, organisers of last month’s Martin Jennings Memorial Motorcycle Run are planning a social evening when all those who took part can celebrate its success over a drink, a dance and a pasty.

The 130 mile charity run attracted a record 1,500 riders and raised £4,776.99 for Marie Curie Cancer Care on the day. It is hoped that figure can be boosted to £5,000 through the social evening to be held at Falmouth Rugby Club from 7.30pm on Saturday, October 25.

Motorcycle garages and shops throughout Cornwall have donated prizes for a raffle, and a special DVD of the run will shown on the big screen, and be on sale during the evening.

Fonzies disco and karaoke will provide the entertainment. Tickets are £5 and include a pasty.

Organiser of the Jennings Run for the past 27 years, Dave Saunby said: “I thought it would be nice for riders who took part in the run, and also friends and supporters, to all meet up for a bit of a social, because on the day of the actual run it is such a busy day, that people just don't have time to chat properly, so this would be a great way of bringing people together, and to raise money for charity at the same time.”

Anyone who would like tickets should call Dave on 01326 315285 (evenings) or visit the Martin Jennings Memorial Motorcycle Charity Run page on Facebook.
