A kingfisher colony has sprung up near an outlying section of Helston’s waterways.
This was the news from Helston town councillor Ronnie Williams at the last meeting of members.
The town has a number of leats that turn into kennels in the town centre and Mr Williams said it was important to get the timing right for when they were switched off, such as for maintenance.
This was because the kingfishers feed on sticklebacks that live in the water.
“They have been turned off at times when the colonies are breeding,” said Mr Williams.
