Six girls from Helston Community College have been chosen to perform live as part of this year’s televised Children In Need event.

Katie Smith, Sarah England, Jayde Warren, Tamsin Ford, Rosanna Harrington and Lowenna Wearne will be with other members of Cornwall Girls Choir, singing as part of a UK wide feature on the BBC1 programme.

They will travel to the BBC studios in Plymouth, along with Cornwall Boys Choir |and Truro Prep Choir on the day of Children In Need, November 14, for rehearsals ahead of the live event in the evening.

They, along with choirs all around the country, will be filmed singing I’ll Stand By You, with TV cameras cutting between the different locations in the UK.

The girls all go to the Hayle branch of the choir, meeting up with other members in Truro once a month.

They are also part of the school choirs, with Katie and Lowenna members of the junior choir and the others in the senior choir.

The group described themselves as “excited and nervous” about the forthcoming performance.

Lowenna said: “We just love singing and this will be a really good experience.”

Rosanna agreed: “It’s a really good opportunity to be in Children In Need.”
