Helston is in shock today following the sudden and unexpected death of one of its most well known characters.
Wesley Bowden, who owned Bowden’s Home Hardware for decades, is understood to have died yesterday.
He is thought to have been in his late 60s and is not known to have been ill.
Mr Bowden was hugely well known in the town, not only for owning one of Helston’s best known stores but also for his community involvement.
He was passionate about promoting Helston and its businesses, and always attended meetings about its future.
It was only in May this year that Mr Bowden married fellow Helstonian Lynn Constance Gerrell in a service packed with well wishers.
