Firefighters were called to Riviere Towans, near Hayle, this morning after a report of a 4x4 in a precarious position and the driver trapped inside.

Six firefighters with a line rescue appliance from Camborne attended the call to the holiday complex at 8.44am.

A fire andb rescue service spokesman said: "The front of the vehicle had gone down a steep slope and the driver was trapped in the vehicle, at the bottom of the steep slope were a number of chalets.

"The driver remained in the vehicle until the arrival of the fire service.

"Once in attendance crews stabilised the vehicle by attaching lines to the front of the 4x4 and a winch to the rear of the vehicle, the occupant was then assisted safely from the vehicle.

"Once empty, firefighters used further lines and the winch to pull the vehicle up the slope to a place of safety."
