The Penryn branch of the Royal British Legion has elected its officers for the year at its annual general meeting at the Falmouth and Penryn Sea Cadet Unit.

The branch selected Col Paul Bradley as president, Major Chas Wenmoth as chairman, Brian Plint as vice chairman, Helen Perry as treasurer, Mary May as secretary, Dick Monk as membership secretary, Gill Grant as poppy appeal organiser, Matt Barringer as standard bearer, and Phil and Kerri Robinson as branch event supporters.

Mary May said that attendance at meetings over the past year had increased and the branch was in a very robust position, “thanks to the ever reliable member support”, and that the branch had a very busy year, including organising World War One commemorations during Penryn Week with Penryn Town Council.

She added: “Phil and Kerri Robinson along with Matt Barringer our standard bearer continue to fly the flag for Penryn Branch, they support by way of attending services and organised Legion events across Cornwall and Devon. Penryn branch is very proud of the sea cadet unit and all the support they give to the Poppy Appeal in Penryn.”

Mary added thanks to the British Legion Bikers for their support, Penryn Town Council for all their administrative assistance, Falmouth and Penryn Sea Cadets for their hospitality, Frances and Dave of Granite Rock, Father Ian Frome who has been a great friend to the branch, Father Steven Wales branch chaplain, and Rose Webber of the Methodist Chapel.
