The winners of the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2014/15 have been revealed, with Pandora Inn in Mylor holding on to the 'Pub of the Year' title.

Now in their thirteenth year, the annual awards, organised by Visit Cornwall and sponsored by Hoseasons, shine the spotlight on the stars of the local tourism industry and with twenty-one categories applaud brilliance in all aspects of the visitor experience.

Highcliffe Contemporary Bed & Breakfast in Falmouth won silver in the B&B and guest accomodation section, while The Waymarker, Constantine, win silver in the cafe or tearoom of the year section.

Cosawes Barton at Ponsanooth won bronze in the self catering section, while The Idle Rocks Hotel, St Mawes, won a bronze a the small hotel section and St Michael’s Hotel & Spa, Falmouth, won bronze in the large hotel section.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan which was crowned Winner of Winners, while Bosinver Farm Cottages in St Austell emerged as a double gold champion for self-catering and sustainable tourism.

Malcolm Bell, head of Visit Cornwall, said: “To have so many amazing businesses and individuals who work tirelessly to drive Cornwall’s tourism product forward is one of Cornwall’s greatest assets. With so many new names on the winners roll, these awards highlight that Cornwall’s immense passion for quality is industry wide rather than the reserve of a few. Let’s hope Cornwall continues this success and comes home triumphant from the British Travel Awards later this month where it is in the running for Best UK Holiday Destination.”

Other notable winners included The Pandora Inn in Mylor which held onto the Pub of the Year title, and the revamped Telegraph Museum Porthcurno which, in its first year since reopening, stole the spotlight in the art, museum and industrial attraction category. The restaurant line-up meanwhile was dominated by Nathan Outlaw who won gold and bronze for Restaurant Nathan Outlaw and Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen respectively.

Proud Cornishman and England rugby union legend, Phil Vickery, joined the celebrations and as the guest speaker for the Award evening, entertained with tales of his sporting triumphs alongside BBC Radio Cornwall’s Daphne Skinnard who compered.

The winners of the Cornwall Tourism Awards will now represent Cornwall in the South West Tourism Awards and, if successful, go through to the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2015.
