A flood alert for Cornwall's south coast has been issued for tonight’s tide at 4.45pm and tomorrow morning’s tide at 5am at the peak of the spring tide.
The alert is for Lizard Point to Gribbin Head including the tidal rivers Helford and Fal, Penryn, Flushing, St Mawes, Portscatho, Portloe, Portholland, Mevagissey and Par.
An Environment Agency spokesmand said: "Both tides coincide with a force six west to south south westerly winds and wave heights of up to 5m.
"Spray overtopping is possible at exposed coastal locations, especially for open water locations including Mevagissey, Pentewan and Gorran Haven.
"The times of high tide will vary along the coast.
Conditions will usually apply for two to four hours either side of high tide.
"We are expecting to issue further flood alerts to cover Saturday afternoon’s tide. During Saturday and Sunday, the tide will start to drop and the wind and waves are expected to subside."
