Firecrews from St Columb, Newquay, Wadebridge and Perranporth were called to Newquay airport this morning after a 'full emergency' call over a French military aircraft.
Fire appliances with a total of 21 firefighters attended after air traffic control were allerted that a French air force E121 had experienced an engine fire and needed to make an emergency landing.
The twin-turboprop fixed-wing aircraft, built by the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer, was on a return flight to Avord air base in central France.
The engine fire was extinguished prior to the landing and the aircraft landed safely.
It remains at the airport.
