Members of Constantine Arts Society had the chance to show they can do more than just “paint on canvas” work at an art and craft market.

The market, held in Constantine church hall, gave members an opportunity to showcase other work, such as jewellery and glassware, which would not find a space in the society’s annual exhibitions.

As well as showing off their work, the group was able to sell it off, and raised an undisclosed amount which will be donated to the church hall’s roof fund.

Society chairman Christine Fletcher said: “Besides painting, people do other things, and because we have limited space for crafts at our annual exhibitions we decided to have an occasional art and craft market so people can see what else we do.”

There was a wide variety on offer as well as paintings, there were pictures generated on iPads, digital art, silver jewellery, woodworks, knitted hats, seeded glassware. There were all sorts of fabric products from bags, aprons, and childrens dresses to door stops in the shape of chickens.

Christine added: “It was a good atmosphere, good fun and everybody enjoyed themselves and got to see what else people do besides putting paint on canvas or paper.”
