The story of an unlikely friendship between an eight-year-old boy and a Christmas light bulb will be told through dance in Helston next week.

Ocean Academy of Dance will present their musical theatre production of The Littlest Light on the Christmas Tree on Saturday, November 29 and Sunday, November 30 at Helston Community College’s north site.

The cast of 90 local children will be performing musical theatre, ballet, tap, modern. Some of the students started learning to dance with Ocean Academy when Jo Simms established the school ten years ago and are now performing “on pointe” for the first time.

The production has been adapted from the award winning animated film featuring Emmy and Tony award winners Jane Seymour and James Naughton.

Set in a time after the Second World War, the musical follows the story about two unforgettable friends – an abandoned, discarded Christmas |bulb, afraid and alone, and an eight-year-old boy who finds him and takes |him home.

Broken and useless, Little Light is of no value to anyone – except to young Timothy who sees himself in Little Light's plight. Timothy's belief is so strong that Little Light can “shine” again that when the town suffers a blackout from a fierce winter storm, Little Light triumphs over all odds – and his own self doubt – to “shine”, lighting the way for others who “see the light”.

Tickets are available from Jo Simms on 07990 635669.
