A WOMAN has been banned from driving after testing over twice the drink driving limit in the Asda car park in Penryn.

The attention of police officers, who were in the car park on the night of October 30, was drawn to the pair after seeing them arguing.

After walking over to speak to them the officers discovered that the woman, who said she had driven there, was under the influence of alcohol.

Kerry Ann Clift, aged 42, of Little Oaks, Penryn, failed their screening test and later tested at 71 mcg, just over twice the legal limit.

At Truro Magistrates’ Court she pleaded guilty to drink driving.

The court heard she had told the police she had been drinking wine earlier in the day and then had a drink at the local football club. She had no previous convictions.

Clift, a community care worker, told the magistrates she was disgusted with herself for what she had done.

She was fined £200 with £105 costs and surcharge and banned from driving for 18 months.
