The community at Jubilee Wharf in Penryn kick-started the Christmas period with an evening of open studios and activities on Friday.

The businesses at the wharf threw open their doors for the public to enjoy refreshments, live music, and to take part in workshops.

Maya Ullman Mason, of Jubilee Wharf Gallery, said: “It was a fun evening and a fantastic event, another great success.”

There were DJs at Cycle Solutions, and a gallery workshop at the Jubilee Wharf Gallery, followed by live music: violin makers Penryn Violins invited local musicians to bring their own instruments, and the jam continued late into the evening with Irish music, folk, a vocal group and even a klezmer performance.

Other attractions included an exhibition of prints by John Howard and his students and a printmaking demonstration at the John Howard Gallery, vegetable on fabric printing at Sidekick Boutique, and architecture consulting with Märraum, as well as a hot rum bar.

Maya added: “Despite the rain it was pretty full and very exciting.

“It’s the third year we are doing it. All the workshops over the years have become a community and just started to work together instead of being separate units.

“We thought why not have an evening and invite everybody we know and raise awareness of what goes on here.

“It’s for people to see what we are doing in a fun way, and for us to have fun and relax.”
