A planning application for three new houses on land at Charlotte’s Roost, between Green Lane and the railway line in Penryn, has been fully supported by the town council, despite objections by Network Rail.

The latest application for the site, made by Radgel Developments, includes plans for one four-bedroom and two two-bedroom houses.

Network Rail has raised an objection to the application, which will place three houses close to the top of the railway cutting leading from Penryn Station towards Falmouth.

The company listed concerns about the effect of any development on the stability of the nearby road bridge which crosses the railway line, and has also requested details of the distance of any piling or shallow foundations to be used, plus the depth of any piling.

They are also requesting details of the type of plant to be used and the access which is planned during building work.

The company added: “In the event that the cutting slope fails due to the existence of the building, due to any works associated therewith, Network Rail will consider any such failure and consequential damage as an act of nuisance on their part and shall take all necessary action to seek redress.”
