Members of St Francis School’s gardening club have helped plant 100 daffodil bulbs named Gallipoli Dawn which were donated to the town council by local daffodil aficionado, Ron Scamp.
The bulbs have been planted near the War Memorial in Falmouth’s Kimberley Park and will flower next spring – coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the start of the Battle of Gallipoli, which took place during World War One.
Mr Scamp had been asked by the Gallipoli Association to produce a daffodil to commemorate the fallen at the battle, which took place on the Gallipoli peninsula in the Ottoman Empire between April 15, 1915 and January 9, 1916.
The Gallipoli Dawn first went on sale last year when the bulbs quickly sold out, with many going to buyers in Australia.
The 100 bulbs donated to the town council are worth £400.
